Nourishing and growing in faith is a lifelong process. Because of this we have many opportunities to grow in faith and in our Christian relationships within the community of faith. Below is a listing of the various opportunities to nourish your faith at St. Stephen.
Sunday School – Sunday School is at 9:00 am on Sunday mornings (September through May) and provides learning opportunities for children 3 years old through high school. The new Spark curriculum from Augsburg Fortress is currently being used and the lessons coincide with the readings used in Sunday morning worship.
Confirmation – Confirmation class is for youth in the 7th and 8th grades with the youth affirming their Baptism in the spring of their 8th grade year. The year is a combination of Learning Events, Fellowship Events, and Servant Events. A winter retreat at Michi-Lu-Ca is also a part of the process as is a week-long confirmation camp at Stony Lake in the summer.
Youth Group - The high school age youth are involved in various activities including: Mission Trips, the Michigan Gathering Bass Lake Festival, and the ELCA National Youth Gathering which is held every three years.
Adult Sunday Class – The adult class meets on Sunday mornings at 9:00 in the library before worship (September through May). This class covers several different topics each year which can range from the study of a specific book of the Bible; discussion of a book on some aspect of the Christian faith; to a study of a particular topic. Since nourishing and growing in faith is a lifelong process, adult learning opportunities are especially important.
Wednesday Morning Bible Study – This Bible study group meets on Wednesday mornings from 9 - 10:30 am (September through May). This summer a shorter class is offered from 10 - 10:30 am in Pastor's Study. Often the group discusses the readings for the upcoming Sunday but it also does studies of specific books of the Bible or other topics.
